Bobcats forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist breaks left hand

Charlotte Bobcats forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist suffered a broken left hand during Tuesday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks, the team announced.

The team said that X-rays revealed the fracture and that he will be examined on Wednesday in Charlotte. The team gave no timetable for his return to the court.

Kidd-Gilchrist, in his second season, is averaging 9.2 points and 5.4 rebounds in 27 minutes per game for the Bobcats and had been dealing a swollen left knee in the past week.

He is third NBA player in the last week to suffer a hand injury. New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis is out four to six weeks with a broken left hand and Brooklyn Nets forward Paul Pierce is expected to be out up to four weeks after suffering a nondisplaced fracture in his shooting hand.
