The Los Angeles Lakers have taken center Pau Gasol off the trading block for the time being after seeing improvement in his play recently, report ESPN.com's Ramona Shelburne and Marc Stein.

According to the report, the team had been contemplating trading Gasol. His recent issues with head coach Mike D'Antoni did not make matters any better.

However, Gasol showed signs of improved play during the team's four-game trip which ended with a 96-92 win against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday. Gasol had 21 points and nine rebounds in the game and is averaging 14.7 points and 9.3 rebounds a game this season.

"I just think people go through periods of slumps where you question things," D'Antoni said of Gasol on Tuesday. "Like I said, we were out of whack. Different things go on. But Pau's an All-Star, he's one of the best players in the league, he worked through it and he's back to normal."
