The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to trade center Andrew Bynum to the Utah Jazz in exchange for veteran forward Richard Jefferson, according to Marc Stein and Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

The Cavs have been shopping Bynum since he was suspended indefinitely last week for conduct detrimental to the team. Bynum is due another $6 million if he is on a team's roster on Jan. 7, but if he is waived before then his team will clear that amount off their caps.

Cleveland had been in talks to trade Bynum to the Los Angeles Lakers for Pau Gasol, but those talks have bogged down in recent days. The Lakers would save over $20 million in salary and luxury tax penalties by acquiring and then waiving Bynum in exchange for Gasol, but are said to want another young player or a draft pick from Cleveland as part of the deal.

It is believed that the Jazz are willing to make a straight trade of 33-year old Jefferson for the troubled Bynum.
