Boston College Eagles head basketball coach Steve Donahue has been fired, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

Donahue joined Boston College in 2010, taking the team to the NIT tournament in his first season, but failing to make the postseason in any of the ensuing years.

The Eagles returned seven scholarship players this season, according to Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel, but disappointed with an 8-24 record, despite knocking off then-No. 1 Syracuse on the road. The team had a  54-76 record in Donahue's 4 years as head coach.
