Sixers avoid setting new record for NBA’s longest losing streak

A 123-98 win over the Detroit Pistons finally broke the dry spell in Philadelphia.

The 76ers share the record for most consecutive losses in NBA history with the 2010-2011 Cleveland Cavaliers at 26 straight losses, but a Saturday night win saved the team from breaking that record.

Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams valiantly led the effort to end the losing streak, leading the team with 21 points, as well as 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Thaddeus Young also had 21 points and 6 rebounds.

The Sixers are in an extreme rebuilding year, having traded All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday to the New Orleans Pelicans for a 2014 first-round pick and former Kentucky center Nerlens Noel, who hasn't played a single game for Philadelphia while he recovers from knee surgery.
