Natalie Achonwa of the Notre Dame women's basketball team will miss the remainder of the NCAA tournament after tearing her ACL in the team's Elite Eight win over Baylor on Monday night, according to the team.

The injury occurred late in the game's second half with Notre Dame leading by 11. Achonwa later returned from the locker room to join her teammates in cutting down the nets after securing the school's fourth consecutive Final Four bid.

The senior captain led the team in rebounding with 7.5 boards per game in addition to averaging 14.7 points a night. Coach Muffett McGraw said in the team's release that the Irish will still have Achonwa's leadership from the bench.

"While she may not be in uniform, her voice will be heard loud and clear in the locker room, on the bench and in the huddle. I know that our team is going to continue to feed off her energy, passion and leadership as we head into the Final Four."
