DORTMUND, Germany (AP) - Borussia Dortmund coach says Germany midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is unlikely to play again this season because of persistent back problems and will probably miss the World Cup.

Gundogan has not played since August because of an inflamed nerve in his back.

Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp said that ''time has run out'' for Gundogan this season and despite the injury having ''improved,'' that ''it needs time and we have to wait.''

Germany coach Joachim Loew has said he would only take fit and healthy players to the World Cup in Brazil. Even if Gundogan recovers in time for the tournament in June, he is unlikely to have had enough match practice.
