Olympiakos, the most successful team in Greek football, finished atop the Greek Super League last season for their 41st Greek Cup title. The team's leading scorer was Kostas Mitroglou, who netted 14 goals last season. Olympiakos advanced to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League after last year's league title, but ultimately were eliminated by Manchester United on a 3-2 aggregate.

Before the new season kicks off, the Greek side is touring the United States as part of the International Champions Cup along with a number of other European giants.

This offseason, Mitroglou left Olympiakos to join Fulham, but the team brought in Fulham's Pajtim Kasami and Eric Abidal of Monaco.
