Getafe finished in 13th place in La Liga during the 2013/2014 season, totaling just 42 points. Pedro Leon and Lafita paced the team's scoring, with seven goals apiece. Ciprian Marica finished just one behind the pair. Diego Castro Gimenez led the team in assists with six. 

In May, Getafe fired coach Luis Garcia and hired former player Cosmin Contra to take over the position.
