Brazil Men's National Team

The Brazil men's national team recently reached the semifinal on their home soil at the 2014 FIFA World Cup before being routed 7-1 in a loss to eventual champion Germany. They would go on to also lose the third-place match to the Netherlands, 3-0.

Brazil's leading goal scorer in the tournament was Neymar, who finished with four goals. In Brazil's quarterfinal win over Colombia, Neymar fractured his vertebrae and missed the rest of the World Cup. Brazil was led in assists by Oscar and Marcelo, who both finished with two.

After the World Cup, head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari resigned from the position. He was replaced by Carlos Dunga on July 22.
