Mesut Ozil will miss Germany's friendly against Argentina on Wednesday with an ankle injury. Ozil will stay in London to get fit for Sunday's match against Scotland.

Mesut Ozil will miss Germany's friendly against Argentina on Wednesday with an ankle injury, Rob Harris of The Associated Press reports.

The match, which will be played in Duesseldorf, will feature the two finalists of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Germany won the tournament in July.

Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff says the Arsenal midfielder is staying in London but "there's work being done so he can play against Scotland."

Who is moving on deadline day?

Ozil appeared to injure his ankle during Arsenal's match against Leicester City on Sunday, which ended in a 1-1 draw. 

On Sunday, Germany begins its matches to qualify for the 2016 European Championship when it faces Scotland in Dortmund.

The 25-year-old midfielder has 62 caps and 18 goals for Germany.
