FIFA removed a member of its Audit and Compliance Committee after he was implicated in corruption, the Associated Press reports.

Canover Watson, who is a director of the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange and treasurer of the country’s football federation, was arrested by authorities accusing him of corruption and money-laundering in a case reportedly involving supplying public hospitals with swipe-card billing technology. Watson denies the charges.

FIFA temporarily relieved Watson of his duties, saying “no connection with football and/or his role at association level has been established at this stage,” and the “presumption of innocence applies" to Watson.
