Roma's Francesco Totti says he was inspired by Manchester City's tweet
AS Roma striker Francesco Totti says Manchester City's tweet pointing out he had never scored in England inspired him to net a goal in Tuesday's Champions League match.
“City’s tweet? It really brought me luck,” Totti told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as translated by the Guardian.
Roma and City played to a 1-1 draw Tuesday. Sergio Aguero scored on a penalty kick in the fourth minute before Totti equalized with a chip past Joe Hart in the 23rd minute.
At 38, Totti became the oldest player to score in the Champions League, breaking a record formerly held by Ryan Giggs of Manchester United.

Totti said he was aware of the record, but it wasn't on his mind during the game.
"It really wasn’t something I was thinking of when I was on the pitch," Totti said, according to the Guardian. "Records arrive thanks to the help of your teammates and what really matters is the result of the team."
Totti has spent his entire professional career at Roma. He debuted at age 16 and is playing his 23rd season with the club this year.City and Roma are paired in Group E, along with Bayern Munich and CSKA Moscow. Bayern leads the group with six points after beating City and CSKA. Roma is in second place with four points. City and CSKA are third and fourth with one and zero points, respectively.

Roma and City play again in December in Rome in the final group stage match for both teams.
