France: PSG, Monaco settle for 1-1 draw in Ligue 1

PARIS (AP) — Paris Saint-Germain once again failed to hold onto the lead as substitute Anthony Martial scored deep in stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw for Monaco against the two-time defending champions in the French league Sunday.

In a lively match featuring French football's two representatives in the Champions League, Martial's equalizer canceled out Brazilian midfielder Lucas' opener as PSG could not follow up its win over Barcelona in Europe's top competition midweek with another success.

Although PSG was again missing top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic because of a heel injury, Laurent Blanc's team played with pace and creativity and was logically rewarded for its spirited play when Lucas beat keeper Danijel Subasic from close range in the 71st minute from Jean-Christophe Bahebeck's assist.

But after PSG's defense failed to clear the ball in added time, Martial found himself unmarked in the box and made no mistake to salvage one point, with PSG failing to protect its lead for the fourth time this season.

PSG, which remains unbeaten, now trails leader Marseille by seven points before the international break.

Earlier, striker Alexandre Lacazette scored his first hat trick to give Lyon a 3-0 win against Lille as the seven-time champions extended their unbeaten streak to five games in the French League on Sunday.

Lacazette, who was left out of Didier Deschamps' France squad for upcoming friendly matches against Portugal and Armenia, got past a defender before beating goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama with a cool finish to open the scoring in the 39th minute. Lille coach Rene Girard was sent to the stands for his protests.

The 23-year-old Lacazette has been nurtured by Lyon since he was 10 and recently signed a contract extension. He doubled the hosts' lead at the stroke of halftime with a header from Yoann Gourcuff's free kick, although he appeared to be in an offside position.

Lacazette completed his hat trick six minutes from time after dribbling past Lille captain Marko Basa and Enyeama, who conceded more goals than he had in his eight previous games.

Lacazette, who has three international caps, scored 15 goals last season but did not make the World Cup squad. He already has netted seven goals this season, two less than league top scorer Andre-Pierre Gignac.

Lyon climbed to sixth place with 14 points while Lille is in 4th place, seven points behind Marseille.

Also, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou gave Nantes a 1-0 win at Guingamp with a spectacular strike and Wissam Ben Yedder scored his sixth goal of the season as Toulouse beat Saint-Etienne 1-0.

Ben Yedder slotted the ball past goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier in the 23rd minute after being picked out by Aleksandar Pesic as Saint-Etienne was handed its first home loss in 17 matches.

"I'm playing with confidence at the moment and I can replicate what I'm doing at training during matches," Ben Yedder said.

Saint-Etienne's previous home loss came in November last year when Christophe Galtier's side lost to bitter rival Lyon.

Ben Yedder scored for the fourth straight game and has found the net 10 times in his last 12 league matches.
