Alin Seroni, a center back for FC Viitorul Constanta, faces a 16-match ban for a tackle in an Oct. 29 match, according to the Romanian Football Federation.
This is the second time this week that the federation has handed out a 16-match ban. Gabriel Muresan, a midfielder for ASA Targu Mures, was also punished for a tackle that fractured an opponent's eye socket.
Seroni's tackle resulted in a broken ankle for an opposing player involved in the play. He was assessed a second yellow card.
Seroni, 28, will not be able to play until April, unless the suspension is reduced on appeal.
