Soccer's oldest player signs extension through age 48
Former Japanese national team member Kazuyoshi Miura has signed a contract extension that will keep him playing past his 48th birthday, according to The Guardian.
Miura, currently the oldest active player in professional soccer at 47, signed a one-year extension with Yokohama FC of Japan. He turns 48 on Feb. 26.
Miura began his professional career in 1986 when he signed with Brazilian team Santos. In 1990 the striker began playing with the Japan national team and he made 89 appearances for them, scoring 55 goals before retiring from the team in 2000.

He played with Genoa on loan in 1994-95, becoming the first Japanese player to play in Serie A.
In all during his long career, Miura has spent time with clubs on four different continents of the world.
Miura has made four appearances this season for Yokohama FC.
