Report: Philadelphia Union, Maurice Edu agree to multi-year deal
The Philadelphia Union have acquired the rights to Maurice Edu, according to a report from Philly.com.
The 28-year-old midfielder/defender and the team have agreed to a multi-year deal, the report says. A transfer fee was required for the transaction, but the value of the fee was not disclosed.
The Union acquired Edu in January on a one-year loan from English club Stoke City, where he received limited playing time.

Prior to joining Stoke, Edu spent four years at Scottish club Rangers. Edu has recorded more than 40 caps with the U.S. men's national team but did not make the final 23-man roster for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Over 31 games as a defender and midfielder in Philadelphia this season, Edu scored three goals and recorded two assists. The Union went 10-12-12 and finished in sixth place in the Eastern Conference this season.
