Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho fined over comments about referee
The Football Association's Independent Regulatory Commission fined Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho £25,000 ($38,000) for breaching rules concerning media comments, FA announced Wednesday.
Mourinho was charged with misconduct by the Football Association for his public comments after Chelsea's 1-1 draw against Southamptonon Dec. 28. In the match, Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas was booked by referee Anthony Taylor for diving. Television replays showed that Fabregas was tripped.
“I will go to the referee and wish him a good year and tell him he will be ashamed," Mourinho said afterward. "It is clearly the result of something that looks like a campaign."

Mourinho said those comments did not constitute improper conduct. The Commission disagreed with him saying he breached FA Rule E3 in that the comments “were improper and brought the game into disrepute.”
The Commission did not find that his comments implied bias on the part of a referee or referees. Mourinho was also warned by the that he could be disciplined again in the future.
