Canada names 23-player roster for FIFA Women's World Cup
Canada women's national team coach John Herdman has named the 23 players that will represent their country on home soil at the 2015 Women's World Cup.
Unlike men, U.S. women's World Cup roster lacks shocks, surprises
The roster includes 31-year-old forward Christine Sinclair, who will be appearing in her fourth World Cup with Canada. Other notable names include goalkeeper Erin McLeod, midfielders Diana Matheson and Desiree Scott, and forward Melissa Tancredi.
Canada will be looking to improve on a disastrous 2011 World Cup, in which the team lost all three group stage games and finished with a -6 goal difference. The team did rebound the next year, though, capturing bronze at the 2012 Olympics.
