Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has agreed to take a pay cut in order to return to AC Milan on a season-long loan, pending a physical on Tuesday, reports Ed Aarons of The Guardian.

The Guardian reports there is no loan fee between the clubs, and Liverpool is expected to pay half of Balotelli's £80,000 (about $120,000) weekly salary.

Balotelli was expected to earn a bonus for remaining with the team through the transfer deadline.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers left Balotelli off the team's preseason slate that included games in East Asia and Australia.

In his 16 appearances for Liverpool last season, Balotelli was able to score just once in the Premier League. In his two years with AC Milan from 2013 to 2014, Balotelli scored 26 goals in 43 appearances.
