Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was suspended for one game and fined £40,000 for his behavior during a 2–1 loss to West Ham United last month, the Independent Regulatory Commission announced Monday afternoon.

“The Chelsea manager admitted an FA charge of misconduct regarding his language and/or behavior towards the match officials in or around the dressing room area during half-time of the game,” the Football Association said in a statement.

Mourinho was ejected after heading to the referee locker room to try and speak with an official. Assistant coach Silvino Louro was also dismissed from the West Ham United game, but will not face any discipline for his actions.

Chelsea is slated to play Stoke City on Nov. 7. Mourinho and his team continue to struggle as Chelsea is in 15th place in the Premier League standings after losing six of 11 league games.

Mourinho is also being sued by a former team doctor, Eva Carneiro, who was fired in August. Caneiro believes Mourinho was “instrumental in her victimization, discrimination and demotion.”
