Gary Cahill has signed a new contract with Chelsea that will keep the England defender at the Premier League champions until 2019.

LONDON (AP) — Gary Cahill has signed a new contract with Chelsea that will keep the England defender at the Premier League champions until 2019.

The 29-year-old center half joined Chelsea from Bolton in January 2012 and has made 177 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals.

Cahill told the club's website Wednesday that "I have achieved a lot here and I hope I can keep on learning." A regular alongside captain John Terry at the back, Cahill was a member of the squad that won the Champions League and FA Cup in his first few months at Stamford Bridge.

He then added a Europa League winners' medal in 2013 and helped Chelsea win the Premier League title and the League Cup last season.
