Report: NYCFC interested in Porto’s Iker Casillas
New York City FC has made FC Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas a transfer target, ESPN reports.
Casillas, 34, has been with Porto for less than a year after a decorated tenure with Real Madrid from 1998 to 2015. NYC FC reportedly aims to further strengthen its team by adding the Spanish keeper, with longtime European standouts Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo and David Villa (Casillas’s longtime Spain teammate) already on the roster.
NYCFC reportedly has “long-term interest” in Casillas, who won La Liga five times and the Champions League three times with Madrid and two European Championship titles and one World Cup with Spain.
Casillas is the captain of his national side, although he has begun ceding starting duties to Manchester United's David De Gea.
