A fan was killed Sunday over a Cristiano Ronaldo-Lionel Messi debate, reports the Hindustan Times.

When Nigerian friends Obinna Michael Durumchukwa and Nwabu Chukwuma began conversing about which player is better, Chukwuma threw a shard of glass at Durumchukwa, hitting his throat and eventually killing the 34-year-old. Before he was hit with the shard, Durumchukwa had attempted to strike Chukwuma with a glass.

Chukwuma, 22, was arrested and charged with murder. He faces trial Monday.

The pair was celebrating Durumchukwa’s birthday at the time of his death.
