Ex-Sunderland winger Adam Johnson jailed for six years

Former Sunderland and English national team player Adam Johnson has been sentenced to six years in prison for engaging in sexual activity with a minor, reports the BBC.
During the sentencing, Judge Jonathan Rose told the 28-year-old that he had abused the trust of the victim and caused her “severe psychological harm.”
Johnson was found guilty on March 2 by the jury at Bradford Crown Court of sexually touching a 15-year-old girl. The jury found him not guilty on an oral sex charge. He had previously pleaded guilty to two lesser charges of grooming and kissing in a sexual manner.
The girl, whom Johnson first met in 2015 after agreeing to sign jerseys for her, told the court that Johnson put his hand down her pants.
Sunderland cut Johnson on Feb. 11.
