Los Angeles Galaxy captain Robbie Keane will miss four to six weeks after undergoing surgery on his right knee, the team announced Thursday.

Keane had traveled to Ireland to compete with the national team in friendly matches against Switzerland and Slovakia, but never trained after suffering the knee injury in MLS play. He returned to Los Angeles to be examined by Galaxy medical staff on Tuesday.

Keane suffered the injury during a 3–1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes two weeks ago.
