Jurgen Klopp signs six-year contract extension with Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has signed a long-term contract extension, the club announced on Friday.
The club did not disclose the terms of the new deal, but the BBC reports the extension will keep Klopp with Liverpool for six more years. He originally signed a three-year, £15 million ($19.46 million) deal with the club in October.
Liverpool management released a statement saying it would have been “irresponsible” not to extend Klopp.
“When you have an individual of Jürgen’s quality in the building it makes perfect sense to secure that person for the long term. To not do so would be irresponsible,” the statement said. “The overriding motivation behind this decision is Jürgen’s commitment to overall improvement and development. In Jürgen we have someone who is always looking ahead, always looking beyond his own wants and needs and putting the club first.”
Klopp, 49, replaced Brendan Rodgers as manager in October and helped pull Liverpool up from 10th to eighth place in the Premier League table. Liverpool advanced to the Europa League and League Cup finals, but lost both.
