Belgium has hired Roberto Martinez as its manager, the team announced Wednesday.

Martinez takes over for Marc Wilmots, who coached the Red Devils from May 2012 until he was fired in July. Belgium sacked Wilmots after the team fell in the Euro 2016 quarterfinals to Wales.

Martinez most recently coached at Everton, where he was the manager from June 2013 until this past May. The Spaniard led the club to a 61–39–43 record in 143 matches.

Previously, Martinez managed Wigan Athletic and Swansea City. As a player, Martinez was a midfielder who spent time with Swansea, Wigan, Chester City and others.
