Watch: Lewandowski hat trick, Xabi Alonso golazo in Bayern's opening rout

Bayern Munich raced out to a 2-0 lead within 13 minutes against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga-opening game and didn't look back in the one-sided clash.

In Carlo Ancelotti's first Bundesliga match after replacing Pep Guardiola, Bayern Munich absolutely dominated an overmatched Werder Bremen side from start to finish, cruising to a 6-0 victory on the strength of a Robert Lewandowski hat trick at Allianz Arena on Friday.

Xabi Alonso kicked off the season in spectacular fashion, delivering a (earliest possible) goal of the season contender in the opening minutes of the contest. 

Alonso, who didn't score a Bundesliga goal last season, got on the board nine minutes into the new campaign. With Bayern pressuring from the opening whistle, the Spanish veteran had a clearance attempt fall to him some 25 yards from goal. As he's done plenty of times in the past, he calmly struck a perfect ball off the bounce that rifled into the upper right-hand corner.

Bayern Munich's Mr. Cool: Xabi Alonso on being a midfield metronome

Minutes later, Lewandowski, who led the Bundesliga with 30 goals a season ago, doubled Bayern's lead. He fired home a right-footed shot from a tight angle to make it 2-0 not even 13 minutes into the season.

Lewandowski doubled his tally not even a minute into the second half, raising his leg to meet Thomas Muller's long cross from the right to make it 3-0 in favor of the hosts.

Captain Philipp Lahm got into the act in the 66th minute, taking a pass from Muller to slip into the box before powering a low shot off the far post and in, making it 4-0.

It didn't take long for the lead to grow to 5-0, with Bremen's slack defending continuing to show itself. Lahm found an unmarked Muller in the box, and he took his time to spot Franck Ribery in the center, feeding the Frenchman for a clinical one-time finish in the 73rd minute.

A careless foul in the box moments later gifted Bayern a chance for its sixth and Lewandowski a chance for his hat trick from the penalty spot, and the Polish forward calmly went low and to the left for his third goal of the day. It's his second Friday in a row with a hat trick after burning fourth-tier Carl Zeiss Jena for one in the first round of the German Cup.

Of note in this match to U.S. fans is that Werder Bremen's Aron Johannsson made the start after missing the majority of last season with a hip injury, playing 64 minutes. Julian Green made Bayern Munich's bench for the match as he continues to work his way into the club's loaded first team, though he did not play.
