Mario Balotelli leaves Liverpool for Nice on full transfer

Mario Balotelli is headed to Nice after a disappointing showing at Liverpool.

Liverpool has offloaded Mario Balotelli to French club Nice, two years after signing the troubled striker.

The 26-year-old Italian managed only four goals in 28 appearances for Liverpool and spent last season on loan at AC Milan.

Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere says "we hope that Nice, in a family atmosphere, he will find the pleasure of the game."

Rivere added on the Nice website that "nothing will be easy but with the desire and hopefully the support of all our fans we will allow him to flourish and use his talent to help the team."

Balotelli was signed by then-Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers late in the 2014 summer transfer window for 16 million pounds (then $27 million) as a replacement for Luis Suarez. But the gamble never paid off, with the former Manchester City player better known for his controversies than his goals failing to make an impact on the pitch at Liverpool.
