Napoli Offer Manchester City Target Pepe Reina New Contract as Bravo Future in Question

Napoli are looking to tie down Pepe Reina to a new contract at the Stadio San Paolo, despite interest from Pep Guardiola. Having already completed the signing of 23-year-old goalkeeper Ederson this summer, Guardiola is looking at Reina as back up for the Brazilian U23 international.

Claudio Bravo's future at the Etihad Stadium has been thrown into doubt after Napoli rejected a £2.6m offer for their Spanish goalkeeper. The Serie a side are believed to be willing to sell Reina if Manchester City match their £4.4m valuation of the player, according to Daily Mailreports.

Manchester City have not been actively looking to offload Bravo, despite a disappointing maiden campaign in the Premier League, however, it is understood that they will be willing to listen to offers for the Chilean international.

Reina, 34, is a World Cup winning goalkeeper that previously spent nine years in the Premier League with Liverpool. Having worked under Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich, the former Spain international could be set for a reunion with his compatriot in Manchester next season.

Should Reina leave Napoli this season, manager Maurizio Sarri would likely have to enter the transfer market in search for a new goalkeeper. Rafael, who holds Brazilian and Portuguese nationality, played second fiddle to Reina last season, making just one Serie A appearance.
