Striker Scott Hogan Finally Leaves Brentford Following Month Long Transfer Saga
Scott Hogan has finally left Championship side Brentford after being linked with a move away from the club all transfer window.
The 24-year-old has been a target for a variety of different clubs this January, however, it is Aston Villa who have gained the Englishman's services.
Despite Brentford saying they want £15m for the striker, it is believed that a fee of around £10m has been agreed between themselves and Villa.
The striker has scored 14 goals in 27 games this season and is one of the most in form forwards in England's second tier.
West Ham were thought to be the favourites to sign Hogan all month, however, a lack of agreement between Hammer's hierarchy resulted in them stopping their interest.
West Ham's loss was Steve Bruce's gain who has managed to get his man £5m less than what they originally quoted the Premier League side.
Villa's business with Brentford may pave the way for Jordan Ayew to make his way to Swansea, in a deal believed to involve left-back Neil Taylor.
Hogan's arrival is a clear sign of intent for Villa who are hoping to bounce straight back to the Premier League, following relegation last year.
For Brentford it becomes another sale for them that has lead to big profits. They bought both Hogan and former striker Andre Gray for a combined total of £1.25m and have sold them for a combined £20m - very good business indeed.
Whether Hogan proves to be the missing part of the puzzle remains to be seen for Villa, but it certainly makes the Championship title race much more interesting.
