Tom Huddlestone has written an emotional tribute to Hull after leaving the club to join Derby County.

The former England international has joined Derby on a two-year deal after spending four seasons at the KCOM Stadium, scoring eight goals in 161 appearances.

The 30-year-old took to Twitter to thank the Tigers' fans.

He wrote: "I have to say a massive thank you for the past four years. It's been a bumpy ride along the way but enjoyable none the less.

"From a haircut on the pitch, to an FA Cup final, to European games at the KC. All experiences we won't forget.

"The fans have been excellent with me, you are what make a football club what it is.

"Without you HCAFC wouldn't be a shadow of itself. And for that you should be proud.

"A thank you to the staff along the way also, from Steve Bruce to Leonid Slutsky each manager has had their own styles and I have learnt off each and every one of them.

"Medical staff, kitmen, chef, tea ladies all don't realise what a great job you do and make it an enjoyable environment to work in.

"Thanks again. Good luck for the new season."

Huddlestone told Derby's website that he believes Derby can challenge for promotion next season, with the squad often going close and reaching the play-offs in recent years.

He added: “Tactically and physically, I probably feel as good as I have ever felt.

“I have played a lot of games over the last few years, worked under quite a few managers, so I have picked up a few bits of tactical information that I had never really considered before.

“Hopefully, I can bring my experience. Looking at the squad on paper, there is a very good group of players here – one that should definitely be challenging this year.”
