Wolves have announced the signing of highly-rated Monaco defender Ruben Vinagre on a season-long loan.

The 18-year-old will work between the first-team and the U23 side in order to get used to the area but is expected to be a part of the club's senior squad throughout the 2017/18 season.

Vinagre arrives with a glowing reputation from the Ligue 1 outfit and is a part of Portugal's U18 squad and featured in the U17 side that won the European Championship last summer.

A talented left-back who made the move to France from Sporting Lisbon, Vinagre is happy with an opportunity to impress in England's second-tier.

“I am very happy to come to a big club like Wolves for this season,” he said to Wolves' official website.

“A new story starts for me here at a club with big aspirations in the Championship.

“I like English football and the Championship and this is the perfect chance for me to get some experience.

“I am 18 years old and this is a really positive move for me and a good challenge.

“Working with such a good Head Coach will be perfect for me and I am looking forward to working with him and doing my best for the team and the supporters.”
