Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed the key to the burgeoning partnership between Alexis Sanchez and summer signing Alexandre Lacazette.
Neither scored in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at the Emirates, but both were regularly at the centre of their side's numerous attacks.
And Wenger has claimed that the signs of a good understanding are beginning to emerge in the early stages of the season.
“I feel that they combine well together and overall it’s a promising combination,” he told Arsenal Player. “There are some goals in there and with the providers around I believe we can score more goals.
“To adapt to each other [on the pitch], first of all you need the desire to adapt to each other, to make each other better. It’s always the same, I think great players together with the right attitude, they make each other better.
“If they have not got the right attitude of course then it is a problem but the two of them look to have the right attitude.”
Wenger was not alone in speaking highly of Sanchez after the win against Brighton. Alex Iwobi, who benefited from a typically inventive piece of skill from the Chilean to score in the second half, has praised the awareness of his teammate.
“I didn’t think Alexis would find me from that position but it just shows the skill he has," Iwobi said.
“He is capable of anything. To have eyes in the back of his head and back-heel it to me like that was amazing.”
