Manchester United star Antonio Valencia has won the Premier League's Goal of the Month prize for September for his stunning half volley in the early stages of his team's 4-0 win over Everton at Old Trafford.
The Ecuadorian international, who has regularly captained United this season, received a bouncing ball from Nemanja Matic on the edge of the penalty area and let fly. He struck it so clean that Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford stood little chance of saving it.
"I am delighted to receive this award for Carling Goal of the Month and I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me," Valencia told the Premier League's official website.
"It's a goal that I am proud of, I just hit it into the back of the net and then heard the crowd erupt at Old Trafford," he added.
"It was a great feeling and it gave us the start we needed against Everton; we came away with three points which ended the day perfectly."
Earlier this week, Valencia's also received United's own Goal of the Month award.
The 31-year-old has been on international duty with Ecuador in South America, but United fans will be hoping to see him line up against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday where his physicality and seemingly endless stamina will be of great importance.
If travel fatigue leaves him too tired to start so soon after landing back in Europe, it is likely that Matteo Darmian will fill in instead.
