Italy travel to Friends Arena to face Sweden in the first leg of a 2018 World Cup qualifier playoff.

Sweden finished the group stages in second place on the Group A table with 19 points and six wins in 10 matches. The Swedes edged out the Netherlands for a spot in the playoff on goal difference. Coach Janne Andersson has already said his side are "winners" by just getting to this stage, but Sweden will look to qualify for Russia with a good performance at home.

Italy, the 2006 World Cup champions, finished five points behind Spain on the Group G table with 23 points. The Italians have not missed the World Cup since 1958. But Italy has gone unbeaten against Sweden in their last five meetings and defeated the team 1-0 last year at the European Championship.
