According to the Daily Star, north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are set to wage war for the signature of Watford’s Brazilian sensation, Richarlison.

The 20-year-old has been in fine fettle following his £11.5m move to the Hornets from Fluminense in the summer, scoring an impressive four goals in 11 league outings.

Spurs have been closely watching the South American in his breakthrough campaign, but the youngster’s recent form has now brought their bitter rivals Arsenal into contention, where after a string of exciting performances, they believe that Richarlison could be a good fit at the Emirates.

Richarlison caught the eye of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in Watford’s 2-1 victory over the Gunners in October, and Hornet’s manager Marco Silva isn’t surprised by the attention the Brazilian has been getting.

Reported by the Daily Star, Silva said: “The sky is the limit for him. He could go on and on. He’s a fantastic talent. I am not surprised he is getting attention. What the board think of him now is open to them. If they decide his right price then it is not down to me.

“He learns every day. He’s everything a Brazilian player should be, but also has a style suited to the Premier League,” he continued. “I want my players to improve every day and he does that. I am not surprised clubs have come to our ground to watch him.”

The fact that Richarlison occupies the left flank makes him more of an attractive acquisition for Arsenal, with Wenger resigned to the likelihood that star man Alexis Sanchez will be departing the club in either January or the summer.

The Gunners attempted to bring in Monaco’s French sensation Thomas Lemar in the recent transfer window as a replacement for Sanchez, but being valued at £70m, Richarlison looks a more affordable alternative at £25m.
