Mesut Ozil rightfully picked up the Sky Sports' Man of the Match award for his sensational performance during Arsenal's 2-0 rout of cross-town rivals Tottenham Hotspur, leaving Gary Lineker with something to say about his critics.

The Arsenal number 11 assisted the opening goal, in typical fashion, as Shkodran Mustafi headed home his lofted ball into the box, however, it was his desire to play for the team which really caught the eye during the game.

Fans and Pundit alike hailed the performance of Ozil as the German was seen tracking back and willing to do the dirty work in order for his team to walk away victorious.

The German playmaker has often been criticised for his laziness on the field and his inability to track back and work for the team - especially in key games - but he surely silenced his critics in his latest performance.

Both, Gary and Phil Neville, have in the past been heavily critical of the 29-year-old, however, even they were forced to take their hats off and appreciate the performance that was put in by Ozil.

Former Tottenham Striker Gary Lineker, who has an obvious affinity for his beloved Spurs, also hailed Ozil's performance.

The Match of the Day presenter posted a tweet about the German midfielder which went viral.

Lineker was seen replying to a tweet which revealed that Ozil has created the most chances (34) in the Premier League this season, as the adamant Spurs fans said:

“He’s a class act. Just because he doesn’t charge around like a headless chicken he’s seen as lacking commitment. Utter tosh.”

The Tweet gained steam very quickly and people could not get enough of the Ozil Frenzy, with fans praising Lineker's stance on the German international.

Here's how followers reacted to the tweet:

With Ozil's contract set to run down, reports suggest that the German is on his way out of the Emirates, which is something that all Arsenal fans will be dreading to imagine.
