Napoli Captain Marek Hamsik Promises Brave Celebration if the Azzurri Win Serie A

Marek Hamsik has been dreaming of winning the Serie A Scudetto ever since he joined Napoli.

As the Azzurri currently top the table and have a small yet significant lead over Inter and reigning champions Juventus, this dream is slowly turning into reality.

Ten years after he arrived in Naples, the Slovakian midfielder has now become the captain of the league leaders, but also the club's most solid and important pillar - to the extent that, during the summer, his fans painted a mural that portrays him in the city.

Therefore, being crowned champions of Italy wouldn't just be a personal achievement for Hamsik: it would have a massive impact on Naples itself.

Interviewed by local radio Kiss Kiss Napoli (via Gazzetta dello Sport), he has explained how important lifting this cup is, saying: "Winning would be something incredible, the whole Naples deserves it.

"We are currently doing well, we're on the right path. Napoli had a great start to the season but we can't afford to let this go to our head."

Succeeding in Serie A, which would lead to the third title in the club's history, is something so important that it deserves a special recognition, as Hamsik told reporters: "I have many tattoos, but there's a spot on my body that I left empty in case we win the Scudetto."

Napoli's captain dreams of lifting the Serie A trophy as well as going further in the Champions League - a wish which is slightly tougher to turn into reality, as the Azzurri need to win the next match and have other results go their way in order to qualify for the knockout stages.

"We believe in it because we played a beautiful game against Shakhtar and now have a tough challenge in Rotterdam (against Feyenoord), where we have to win and hope for Manchester City to do the same," he said.

"Were we to reach the last 16, I would love to face CSKA Moscow and, afterwards, battle it out

against a big rival like Real Madrid."
