Lionel Messi won his fourth Golden Shoe on Friday, but it was his son Thiago who stole the show after his cheeky playfulness with his dad's fellow Barcelona attacker Luis Suarez.

The five-year-old has clearly taken a liking to the Uruguayan, racing over to him and giving him a fist bump before sitting down next to his mum Antonella Roccuzzo.

He then proceeds to mischievously look across the row towards Suarez and then hides whenever they make eye contact, covering his mouth to prevent himself from interrupting the black tie gala. As seen in this video by Marca, the two get up to a whole host of fun whilst the rest of the guests try their best to maintain seriousness.

Messi won the award after scoring more goals than any other player across Europe's top five leagues over the last year - now equaling Cristiano Ronaldo's four golden shoes.

He pipped Sporting CP's Bas Dost, who netted an impressive 34 goals last term, to the post and Suarez was on hand to present the Argentine with his trophy.

As quoted in the Sun, Messi insisted he enjoys being part of this Barcelona team now more than ever.

"I have never considered myself a forward. I have been lucky enough to score goals. I have grown both on and off the pitch. I keep improving and adding things to my game, and I enjoy playing more and more."

Barcelona are sitting pretty at the top of La Liga and look to be favourites to reclaim the domestic title off arch rivals Real Madrid, but they face one of their toughest tests yet on Sunday as they travel to the Mestalla to play Valencia.
