After losing 3-0 at the San Siro in the Coppa Italia during the midweek, Hellas Verona hosted AC Milan at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi on Sunday Morning.

The visitors came with three wins in their last six games while Verona had only achieved one win in their last six fixtures.

The first half started with what looked like an early blow to the hosts as Verona were forced to make a substitution in the 22nd minute due to injury.

After a couple of minutes of delay, Mattia Valoti was subbed off for former Inter man Daniel Bessa in the midfield.

Shortly after the change, Verona managed to break their terrible form against Milan by providing the opening goal in the 24th minute.

Antonio Caracciolo headed the ball into the top right hand corner from a Romulo provided cross.

It didn't take long for Verona to receive their second blow of the match as Alessio Cerci had to come off due to an injury.

Milan were playing consistently rough in the first half of the match with the likes of Giacomo Bonaventura conceding fouls nearing the end of the first 45 minutes.

The Rossoneri got their first scare of the evening as the referee showed Fabio Borini a red card for a foul.

But after an appeal, the ref decided to use the virtual assistant to rethink his decision. Following the replay, the ref let Borini off giving only giving him a yellow as the Gialloblu lead 1-0 at home in the first half.

In the second half, possession play looked to be in favour of the hosts as they won a couple of free kicks.

Though Milan were trying their hardest to push, the roughness they had in the first half was still showing well into the second.

In the 55th minute, both Verona substitutes contributed to the host's second goal as Moise Keane slotted the ball into the left hand corner from Bessa's cross.

Verona continued with their domination on the pitch pushing forward while Milan were still trying to recover from the conceded goals.

Bonaventura and Leonardo Bonucci had attempts on goal but failed to convert their chances for the Rossoneri to bounce back.

In the 77th minute, the home side got their third goal of the day in the form of Bessa following a fast break into the counter and an assist by Romulo.

Milan looked the weaker side for the remainder of the game, trying desperately to make a late breakthrough.

In the dying minute of the match AC Milan were out of luck as Suso was given a red card for a misconduct on the pitch.

The match ended 3-0 to Hellas Verona with Gennaro Gattuso disappointed in his side's performance.
