Jan Siewert could have his first signing as Huddersfield boss in the bag as early as Monday evening, as reports have emerged that Charlton striker Karlan Grant is in the final stages of completing a £1.5m permanent move to the Terriers.

The 21-year-old has scored an impressive 14 goals in 28 appearances for Charlton in League One this season, earning himself flattering glances from a number of sides higher up the football food-chain, with Huddersfield having been widely linked since Siewert's arrival last week.

It seems as though speculation could be put to rest with official confirmation sooner rather than later, as a report in Sky Sports claim the striker is currently undergoing a medical in Yorkshire, and a move for an initial £1.5m plus add-ons should be finalised in the immediate future.

A highly-thought-of England youth international, he looks set to become the new manager's first addition, as he vies to bring an end to the Terriers' attacking woes and steer them clear of peril in the second half of the season.

David Wagner's departure after three-and-a-half years in charge came as the club sit bottom of the Premier League table, and they have so far scored a division low of 13 goals over their 23 games.

Siewert, who joined from Borussia Dortmund's coaching set-up just as Wagner did when he was first appointed in 2015, has just 15 games to overturn the 10-point gap that has opened up between them and 17th placed Newcastle

He'll be hoping that Grant can be a key part of a miraculous revival in the months to come.
