Borussia Dortmund Hoping to Beat Chelsea & Man City to £40m Signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly preparing a £40m bid for Crystal Palace starlet Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as they seek to fight off interest from both Chelsea and Manchester City.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the Premier League's finest one-on-one defenders since making his breakthrough to the first team last season. As a result, he has found himself linked with a move to many of the Premier League's elite, and Palace will face a fight to keep the right-back when the summer transfer window opens.

News of Dortmund's interest in Wan-Bissaka comes from The Sun, who claim that the club want Wan-Bissaka to become the Bundesliga's next English superstar, following in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho.

Dortmund are ready to submit a bid of £40m in the hope of convincing Palace to part ways with the youngster, but the likes of Chelsea and City are also thought to be incredibly keen on signing Wan-Bissaka, which could lead to an agressive bidding war in the summer.

With Sancho racking up eight goals and 13 assists this season, Bundesliga sides are seemingly becoming infatuated by British prospects.

Welsh international Rabbi Matondo swapped City for Schalke in January, whilst Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi was publicly pursued by Bayern Munich for a large part of the transfer window.

However, unlike many of his fellow youngsters, Wan-Bissaka has enjoyed a huge amount of first-team football for the Eagles. Since making his debut in a 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in February 2018, Wan-Bissaka has gone on to make 35 appearances for Palace and is now believed to be on the brink of his first England call-up.

City and Chelsea are not the only Premier League sides to be interested in Wan-Bissaka, with Manchester United also thought to be closely monitoring the 21-year-old.

Palace will certainly be in no rush to sell one of their most exciting prospects. He signed a contract extension in April 2018, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2022. As a result, he will likely command a sizeable transfer fee if Palace are to part ways with Wan-Bissaka.
