Arsenal Legend Ray Parlour has revealed that the rift between Mesut Ozil and Unai Emery could see the Spaniard sacked if he loses the dressing room.

The German midfielder only recently signed a new long-term deal with the Gunners, and he remains an influential figure at the club. However, Ozil has fallen out of favour with new manager Emery, having started just 13 of the Gunners' 26 games this season.

Emery seemingly lost the dressing room when he was manager of French giants PSG, after clashing with talisman Neymar. Parlour revealed that the same scenario could happen at Arsenal when speaking to Metro, saying: "It’s been a little bit like PSG with Neymar, Neymar ended up getting Emery the sack.

"He lost the dressing room and Neymar was pulling the strings there. Maybe it could be the same at Arsenal."

Ozil has been linked with moves away from the Emirates after falling out of favour, but his huge £350,000-per-week wage bill has been a stumbling block for other clubs. Parlour spoke about the German international's potential move away, remarking: "I go back to the dilemma of what Arsenal have got. He’s on £350,000-a-week. Who is going to pay that sort of money?

"There’s got to be a time in your career, when you’re over 30 you know you’re on a slippery slope. You have to come to a decision. He could stick his heels in and sit out his contract, and say 'play me when you want'. The players hold all the power."

Parlour did reveal he would like to see a reaction out of Ozil, adding: "When you’re left out you want a reaction from the player – especially from training. Show the attitude you want to get back into the team somehow."

Arsenal currently sit in fifth in the Premier League table, and are set to play BATE Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday.
