This is the club's third consecutive trophy-less season, as this year's Man United team becomes the first ever English top-flight team to fall at the semi-final stage of three different competitions within the same year, losing in the semifinal of the League Cup, FA Cup, and now Europa League. Man U did however achieve its primary goal of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
