Photos: U.S. Open fashion misses

NEW YORK -- Everyone wants to look their best at the last Grand Slam tournament of the year. Unfortunately, a few players were undone by their kit sponsors, who either didn't do enough or simply did too much with their designs and color choices for the U.S. Open.

Why anyone wants to make Caroline Wozniacki look like an astronaut or Svetlana Kuznetsova look like a roll of Life Savers is beyond me.

Rafael Nadal: Love the color splash of what Nike calls "Atomic Red" in the shoes in his day outfit, but why so monochrome? Nadal doesn't fare much better with the night kit, replacing the white shirt with a matchy-matchy charcoal one. (Matthew Stockman/Getty Images; Clive Brunskill/Getty Images)

Eugenie Bouchard: Bouchard stepped in to wear Maria Sharapova's signature dress after the Russian pulled out of the tournament. There's a part of me that thinks the dress is the reason Sharapova didn't want to step foot on the court in New York. Poor Bouchard looks like she was standing near an oil spill when a bus drove by.
