Defending champion Rafael Nadal will skip the 2020 U.S. Open amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Rafael Nadal has opted out of the U.S. Open citing his concern over the coronavirus pandemic. By missing this tournament, which is scheduled to begin August 31 in New York, the defending champion will put on hold his chance to equal Roger Federer’s men’s record for Grand Slam titles.
