Caroline Garcia Beats Karolina Pliskova in the Second Round of the U.S. Open
The number 1 women's seed in the U.S Open, Karolina Pliskova has been defeated.
Pliskova was beaten in the second round on Wednesday by Caroline Garcia .
The former flushing finalist arrived at the U.S Open with a big opportunity since 6 of the world’s top 10 players were missing this year. But in an unpredictable outcome she lost to Garcia who was once ranked as high as No. 4 in 2018 .
Garcia said,” "There are ups and downs in every career, I feel more quiet in myself after a few quiet months."
Pliskova’s defeat leaves two American women as the top remaining seeds: No. 2 Sofia Kenin and No. 3 Serena Williams, who is chasing a record-tying 24th Grand Slam singles title.
