Novak Djokovic disqualified after the tournament referee found him guilty of hitting a ball dangerously or recklessly within the court.

Novak Djokovic defaulted on day 7 in New York. The world No. 1 had just been broken by Pabol Carreño Busta and their fourth-round match. When he showed his frustration and accidentally hit a line judge in the throat with a ball. After a lengthy discussion, the tournament referee disqualified Djokovic, who was found guilty of hitting a ball dangerously or recklessly within the court. The Serb left Flushing Meadows without speaking to the media.
